How to fund your fleet with Michiel van Duin.
Tesla to Mars #39 - FSD is a $10K feature to launch a $10B business. We CRACKED the code to FUND it!
Former MisterGreen executive Michiel van Duin joins the Tesla to Mars hosts on financing Teslas, leasing FSD and how investors and communities could co-own autonomous fleets.
Simplest start: no lender, no interest, full control while the rules are still unclear.
Personal or dealer loan
Familiar route for a first car. Check whether the lender allows commercial or robotaxi use.
Private or operational lease
Lease the car instead of owning it. Mister Green (NL) has leased thousands of Teslas, including FSD, and has a robotaxi page at mistergreen.nl/robotaxi. Check that ride-hailing use is allowed in the contract.
Business loan via a BV or LLC
Put the fleet in a company. Cleaner books, possible tax benefits and easier to add cars, but more admin.
Equipment or asset finance
The car itself is the collateral, as with taxis and trucks. Common once you run more than one car.
Co-ownership with an agreement
Share a car with friends or family. Put ownership, costs, payouts and exit rules in writing first.
Start with one car, reinvest into car 2
Use real earnings from car 1 to fund the next. Slower, but based on your own numbers, not estimates.
Check local EV incentives
Subsidies, tax schemes and lower road tax differ per country and city. Look them up before you choose a route.
Unknowns lenders will ask about
The revenue split per mile between Tesla and the owner (not announced)
Expected paid hours per day in your city
Insurance cost and who is liable
Depreciation and resale value of a robotaxi
Whether your country and city allow owner-run robotaxis, and when
What lenders want to see
☐ A simple business plan: city, number of cars, timeline
☐ Cost estimate per car: purchase, charging, insurance, cleaning, parking
☐ Revenue scenarios: low, base and high utilisation
☐ Your own contribution (down payment)
☐ Company structure (BV, LLC or private)
☐ Insurance quote or plan
☐ Charging and parking setup
☐ Plan B: what the car does if robotaxi income is late

Co-own a robotaxi fleet without running it yourself. The CyberFund is a pooled fund that would buy and operate robotaxis, with fleet operators ("shepherds") running the cars day to day.
POOL
A shared fund
Many people put money into one fund instead of each buying and running their own car.
BUY
The fund buys robotaxis
The fund owns a fleet, so you co-own part of it without running a car yourself.
OPERATE
Shepherds run the cars
Local fleet operators, called shepherds, handle charging, cleaning and keeping the cars on the road.
SHARE
Co-own the future
Cities, investors and communities could co-own autonomous fleets together.
Why a fund?
Robotaxis could flip how car value works: instead of only losing value, a car that earns money while it drives can stay productive for years. A fund lets more people take part, and spreads the work across experienced operators.
Where does the idea come from?
From Tesla to Mars episode #39, a deep dive with Michiel, a former MisterGreen executive and financial architect behind early FSD funding strategies. It covers how MisterGreen financed 5,000+ Teslas with FSD, the economics of leasing FSD, and a new class of investors and shepherds.
Is it available?
Not yet. Our team is still developing the idea. There are no returns, fees, minimums or launch dates yet.
The CyberFund is not yet available. Registering interest is not an investment and no money is requested. Any future offer will only be made with the required licences and a prospectus or information document. Independent, not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
Coming soon
Own a stake in the machines.
We're working on a way for you to own a piece of a real robotaxi fleet and share in the revenue it earns, without buying or running a car yourself.
01
Own a piece
Buy a stake in a fleet of robotaxis, starting small.
02
Earn from every ride
A share of the fleet's ride revenue flows back to stakeholders.
03
Local operators run it
Vetted fleet operators handle charging, cleaning and uptime.
We're exploring two routes: the CyberFund, and tokenized stakes in individual fleets.
This is not an offer of securities or an invitation to invest. No stakes are available yet and no money is requested. Any future offer will only be made once the required licences are in place and a prospectus or information document is available. The value of investments can go down as well as up. Independent, not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
Our ambition
Robotaxi-as-a-Service for Europe.
An all-electric, self-driving fleet that makes city travel safer, cheaper and cleaner — owned by many, run by local operators.

Semi as a Service · a concept
Pay per mile. Not per truck.
Our idea: offer the Tesla Semi to hauliers on a pay-per-mile basis, so smaller European transport companies can go electric without a big upfront truck purchase, and get ready for autonomous trucking.
This is a concept being explored by an independent community. It is not a Tesla offer, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
HOW IT WORKS
Pay per mile vs buying
Instead of buying a truck and running it yourself, you pay per mile driven. The price could cover the truck, charging and maintenance, with insurance as an option.
WHO IT'S FOR
Smaller hauliers
European transport companies with a few to a few dozen trucks, for whom the upfront cost of an electric truck is the biggest hurdle.
WHY NOW
Semi + autonomy + EU rules
The Semi is in production and heading to Europe, autonomy is on Tesla's roadmap, and EU rules on emissions and automated driving keep moving.
Semi facts so far
Dated and sourced. Last checked 23 Oct 2026.
OCT 2026Semi production has started on Tesla's high-volume line in Nevada, with installed capacity listed at 25,000 trucks a year.
SEP 2026Tesla says it will sell directly to fleets of any size, including independents, and build its own Semi service network in Europe. Autonomy in Europe is an intention, with no date.
Emails are only used to reply about Semi as a Service.
Energy as a Service · a concept
Charge the fleet. Skip the capex.
The idea: Cybercab and Semi fleet owners get depot charging plus solar and battery storage (for example Tesla Megapack or Powerwall, with chargers) without the upfront investment, paying a monthly fee or per kWh.
This is a concept being explored by an independent community. It is not a Tesla offer, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
Lower cost per km
Own solar and stored energy can cut what each km costs to charge.
Grid congestion workaround
A battery buffers the depot so a small grid connection can still charge a fleet. Very relevant in the Netherlands.
Smart charging
Charge at the cheapest hours, from the grid or from storage.
Possible extra revenue
The battery could earn from grid services or energy trading when the cars don't need it.
Who it's for
FLEETS
Small robotaxi fleets
Owners planning a few Cybercabs who need a place to charge.
TRUCKS
Hauliers
Transport companies moving to electric trucks like the Semi.
SITES
Depots and parking
Owners of depots and parking sites with space for chargers, solar and storage.
Energy facts so far
Dated and sourced. Last checked 23 Oct 2026.
20 OCT 2026Netherlands: 15,061 parties are waiting for grid capacity to take electricity, across 428 areas, together about 8,030 MW.
5 OCT 2026Dutch grid queue growth is slowing as flexible contracts free up capacity in some regions, but the shortage isn't solved nationwide. Regional differences are expected to stay large.
19 OCT 2026Enexis says businesses and households that use power flexibly and avoid peaks create room on the grid. Its waiting list will remain after its capacity releases.
21 OCT 2026Tesla deployed 13.7 GWh of energy storage in Q3 2026, its second-best quarter, and reported its highest-ever storage order rate and backlog.

Energy · Megapod
The Megapod
The energy side of fleet ownership is about more than charging. The Megapod is a planned Tesla product: a self-contained, modular AI computing unit with servers, networking, power distribution and cooling in one box. It is not launched yet.
What is confirmed
Tesla filed the MEGAPOD trademark in June 2026 (USPTO 99893717, intent to use) for modular AI data center hardware. On Tesla's Q2 call Musk said it could sit at Supercharger sites and use their grid connections. No price, specs or launch date.
What Musk said in October
On the SpaceX Q3 call (Oct 20) he described factory-built inference compute at charging sites, linked by Starlink. How it would work exactly is not public.
Why it matters for fleet owners
Robotaxi fleets need depots with big grid connections, batteries and fast charging. If charging hubs also host compute, power at those sites becomes more valuable, and hubs with storage could serve cars and compute at once. That is our reading, not a Tesla plan.
Open questions
Will pods ever sit at depots run by fleet owners ? Who gets priority on power, cars or compute ? Will it come to Europe ? Nobody knows yet. Tesla has said cars come first.
Our idea for fleet hubs : one pod with storage , liquid cooling and load-balancing software , installed , monitored and tuned as a service . For depot charging peaks , grid limits and backup power . A community concept , not a Tesla product .

Q001 · Ownership & caps · Status: Open · Community pick
Will Tesla cap how many owner robotaxis can be added to the network per area/region/town to avoid oversaturation and idle cars?
Q004 · Cities & geofence · Status: Open · Community pick
Given this is a disruptive product (for other taxi firms), is it desirable to be a first mover in a city or best to wait for any noise to quieten down?
Start with a plan : pick your city, decide on fleet size, and work out depot, charging, cleaning, insurance and funding. Tesla said customer cars should start joining the robotaxi network around Q2 2027. Our free 2027 Readiness Guide walks through each step, and members compare plans in the X community .
What is the Cybercab Fleet Owners community ?
Cybercab Fleet Owners is a free, independent X community for people planning to run their own robotaxi fleet, from 1 car to 50. Members share city plans, cost frameworks and timelines. Some people search for it as "Cybercap fleet owners" : it's the same community, at cybercabfleetowners.com .
When can private owners add cars to the network?
On Tesla's Q3 2026 earnings call, Tesla said customer cars should start joining the robotaxi fleet around Q2 2027.
When can I buy a Cybercab?
Tesla said Cybercab deliveries to customers start by the end of 2026. Elon Musk also said the vast majority of Cybercabs will be Tesla-owned, so expect small private numbers at first.
What's the revenue split between Tesla and the owner?
Not announced. Members are modelling scenarios, and it's the most-asked question in the community.
Is this community run by Tesla?
No. It's an independent community of owners and enthusiasts, not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
Do I need to own a Tesla to join?
No. Anyone planning or curious about running a robotaxi fleet is welcome, wherever you live.
How do I join?
Tap "Join on X". It opens a ready-made post so we can welcome you, then request to join the X Community.
